Mopeddin’

A fairly common form of transportation around the island is the moped. Infamous all across the globe for its ability to ferry humans around affordably, seriously injure their riders and free you from the worry of current gas prices. I decided I would rather risk my life than walk everywhere, so I bought one.

I ride it into Kailua, which is five minutes away. I've ridden it into Honolulu which is closer to 45 minutes away. I've ridden it all the way to the North Shore which is a back shattering, hand cramping, ass numbing two hour expedition. I fill mine up from empty, with premium fuel, for about $2-3 USD. I've ridden it in pouring rain and along gusty, mostly terrifying but also kind of beautiful, cliff roads. I've fallen off and slid myself across the road, which is easily one of the scariest moments of my life. I ended up being alright - jammed finger, some road rash and a few really sore spots. I've crashed it on a helicopter landing field while I was pretending to be Steve McQueen in The Great Escape. I'm sure I'll crash it again before I sell it. I've also hit cars and parked it just about everywhere you probably aren't supposed to. I will never willingly buy a two wheeled vehicle again, but I've certainly enjoyed the experience.

Here are some glamour shots of Hawaii, the Metro50 and it's not so great rider risking his life, and the paint of passing cars, to make this video.
